Director
Chie Hayakawa sat down with HFPA journalist Yong Chavez to discuss
her feature film debut, Plan 75, which soon after their
conversation would go on to receive the Camera D’or Special Mention
prize. They go into her writing, directing, and cinematography,
what inspired her to do the film, how its premise of free
euthanization for Japan's elderly population functions as an
allegory for what she sees as a growing authoritarian atmosphere in
Japanese society, and much more.
